April Showers bring May Flowers

Well, spring is upon us, and the construction cycle has started with summer right around the corner. The old saying “April Showers bring May Flowers,” but it also means with the arrival of spring that means a lot of rain for a good portion of the country and the roots of those tree will be growing and the storm lines will become surcharged.

Now is the time to get out there and get those storm lines cleaned, cut out those roots and minimize the chances of flooding streets and worst of all homeowners.

The question is your equipment ready to assist in minimize the effects of all the rain. It is time to check out your root cutters like the Lumberjack® or replace the inserts on you C-RAY® bottom cleaners.

The easiest way to see if your root cutter is ready is by simply checking to ensure it spins freely, and there is no binding or growling noise coming from the bearings. Do you have sufficient chains for cutting and is the front knife sharp to cut through those annoying roots? Do not forget to check the sleds for wear, excessive wear will cause the cutter to sit lower in the pipe and not efficiently remove those roots and can damage the host pipe. If any of these indicators presents themselves, it time to replace the bearing, the front knife, or sleds. Do not forget about the chains!

Are the inserts in the bottom cleaner worn? A couple of ways you can determine that is to remove them and make sure they are not plugged. Hold them up and look through them, do you see excessive wear to onside, or is there a groove stating to wear to one. Is there any crack or chips in the ceramic inserts? If you find any of these deficiencies, it is a good idea to replace the inserts.
